{Alison & Brandon}

Whew!! It has been a whirlwind of a couple months... you guys that know me well know that I've had a pretty crazy ride throughout May and June!  Soooo many wonderful weddings, a new office on Gay Street downtown, and time with really amazing friends.  I haven't gotten to blog quite as much as I'd like, but I have the next two weekends off... and I fully intend to not only get CAUGHT UP... but also to spend some time with you guys... my future and former brides and all other blog-lovin' folks around.  I know I say this alot, but I am one lucky girl.  I realize fully how blessed I am to get to be on this amazing journey of a business and to get to spend time with such cool and unique people on the most important day of their lives.  My Memorial day weekend this year (yeah, I'm a little behind) was one of my most memorable (no pun intended, haha) in a long time.  I'm blogging the first of those two weddings right now... and the other will follow later in the week.  I absolutely fell in love with both of the couples (and especially the brides).  So, meet Alison and Brandon first...

Alison has such a strong, close-knit, fun group of girlfriends... it is actually my second wedding within the group...

We call this the "mary poppins"

I adore the range of emotion in these next three pics...

A little behind-the-scenes goodness... She's a brave girl... red Powerade and Wedding dresses should never-ever be in the same vicinity... especially while laughing.

I think some of my favorite moments from so many weddings revolve around the pre-ceremony prayer... there are always tears shed and I am always touched by the immensity of the love.  It rained on the wedding day... I mean, BIG heavy rain... and the reception was held to be held outdoors in a field...  Alison wasn't sure if the rain would ruin all of the reception plans, but when she prayed, she thanked God for the rain... for its ability to cleanse and refresh.  I was absolutely floored and amazed by her grace.  Turns out... it only rained during the ceremony...and the reception site just five minutes down the road had barely gotten a sprinkle of rain.

LOVE this look she is giving her dad just as he handed her off...

Yep... they DANCED back down the aisle!!

The fog hanging out after the rain made for some PERFECT lighting!

And sorry... I couldn't resist showing the best groom's cake toppers ever... theologian bobble-heads.  Too funny.

Happy Wedding Alison and Brandon!!!  And thank you for your grace, love and warmth.

happy anniversary to kelly & william!

So, since I'm fairly new to the Jennie Andrews team, I especially love posting about anniversaries because even though the pictures are from last year they feel new to me. I always go back in the blog archives (blogives?) and say "oh, I really like these!"  It's generally a difficult task to pick my favorite picture from any old wedding post, but somehow I figure it out. Ha.

But anyway--

Today we want to wish Kelly and William a very happy one year anniversary! Hope you two have had a wonderful year!

{click here to see the old post with lots more pictures!}

{phot tuesday!}

Happy Phot Tuesday to everyone! Here are a couple pictures that are being edited as we speak! This is Sarah and Jason Vance at Castleton Farms from this last weekend. Just a little bit of rain for a lotta good luck! :)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

happy anniversary!

Just wanted to take a minute to wish Teri & Jonathon a happy first anniversary! They were married June 21, 2009.

So, happy "paper anniversary"-- and we hope you have many more happy years of marriage in your future!

Which picture of Teri and Jonathan is your favorite??

{Carly & Will}

Aaaahhh... the great state of Alabama!  Added another state to my list of places I've shot weddings with these guys and I have to say, I definitely wouldn't mind going back.  The wedding was at a state park near Gunthersville, AL and it was absolutely amazing.  We don't have state parks like this in Tennessee.  The lodge looked more like something in a National Park.  The wedding was on the veranda which overlooked the lake about a half mile below us.  LOVE.

The "first look"

Every bunch of groomsmen needs a good "boyband" picture.

i LOVED this wedding party!  they were up for (and wanted to do) anything and everything CRAZY!!! I've been wanting to find a wedding party that would rock some handstands for awhile now... and I'm SO glad I found them!!!

Silly Geese...

Moms are SO important at weddings.  I LOVE the emotion in this pic.

These are two of my favorites... I'm slightly addicted to all things solar flare.

{don't forget the guys}

In the midst of planning for the wedding, it can seem like all the attention is on the bride {as it, honestly, should be}. But, after a little searching, you can find some cool items for the groom (and his "men")-- and these items are affordable and guarentee the men involved will have a little fun on the big day, too. So, on this "frugal Friday," check out some ETSY finds for the guys:

These wooden wedding bands are perfect for the eco-friendly groom. They're made of sustainable wood with a recycled gold inlay. Instead of spending a ton of money on the wedding band, your groom can save a little green (in more ways than one), and spend it on his new bride! {click the picture to see more options}

These pint glasses are a perfect gift for the groomsmen in the wedding party! There's many to choose from, and they would be great to use next time all the guys get together. Or, if the reception doubles as a party, the groom could break these out after he says "I do."

And finally, for the cufflinks.... These vintage inspired cufflinks are not your typical {often boring} cufflinks for the big day. There are many different maps and styles to choose from, and you could even get a map of the destination for your honeymoon! These cufflinks are a great way for your groom to customize his suit.

{frugal friday!}

So, I don't know if you've heard of etsy.com, but it's one of the coolest places to buy anything {and everything} handmade. It's especially handy when you're looking for awesome/original things for your big day.

Instead of going the regular route, think outside the bouqet creating a look for your bridesmaids. Handbags {and these in particular} can be just as colorful and fun as flowers and last a whole lot longer... Your bridesmaids will have something original {and soo cute} during the ceremony, but they will also have something that will remind them how fun your wedding was long after you are mister and misses.

Just click on the picture that you like to see each etsy page! What do you think about these handmade goodies?

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and a great weekend to follow!

the very first {phot tuesday}!

New BLOG!!!

Hey blog fans, brides, grooms and cool folks in general!  I'm making it official today!  Welcome to the new blog for Jennie Andrews Photography!  We are calling it {JenAndPhot}.  Find out why by clicking the link up top!  I'm hoping that this new blog with categories, fun links and of course lots of awesome images will be not only more fun, but also more easy to navigate and a place you want to come back to more often.  In fact... in addition to me blogging weddings, e-sessions and lots of kiddos, I will also have a guest blogger (we're calling him Phot.. haha) who will be doing some special things including neato finds to make your wedding not only more photo-friendly, but also more unique and special!  So come on by whenever you have a chance!  And become a fan of Jennie Andrews Photography on Facebook to get the lowdown anytime we post a new blog!

And just for fun... one of my favorite shots from this saturday's wedding...

{Justin & Megan} the love

Holy Moly!!!  I had a BLAST playing around with Megan and Justin.  They are gettin' hitched in late July and we are gonna have soooo much fun if this session was any indication.  They are super laid back and were up for anything (even sitting in the mud so I could shoot them in a super cool cluster of flowers behind a warehouse downtown that was admittedly a little sketchy).  I have decided that I like a couple different locations for e-sessions... gives us more time to loosen up and also lets me do some different things with different looks.  I was digging it.  Ok... enough talk...  more action:

{manic monday & an anniversary}

So this is the first manic Monday on the new blog, and it also doubling as the first anniversary post! On May 15, 2009, Heather and Greg Lambert got married, and Jennie was there to capture all the memories from the wonderful wedding. This is one of the best shots taken that day-- can't you just see the happiness in their faces?

This picture has the classic look of a black-and-white wedding picture, but Jennie's touch {capturing Heather and Greg's priceless expressions} is what makes it so adorable!

Happy Anniversary Heather and Greg! Hope you're enjoying wedded bliss :)

And Happy Monday to everyone else!

{welcome to the new blog!}

So, this is the brand-spankin’ new blog for Jennie Andrews Photography, and it’s called “Jen and Phot.” You may be asking yourself, “Who exactly is Phot?”

Well, Phot is short for photography, just like And is short for Andrews, and Jen is short for Jennie. Which gives us Jen{nie} And{rews} Phot{ography}. And, naturally, Phot has quickly become the pen name for myself {the super cool blogger}.

The best thing about blogging is the fact that it’s quick. Just like capturing a memory by snapping a quick picture, we are going to post short blog updates so you know what’s going on with Jennie and her team.

There will be certain days with categorized posts, and there will always be random posts {because, well, life is generally random}.

So check the blog when you have a chance, and check back often. That way, you’ll never be sitting around wondering what JenAndPhot are up to!

{taylor & jordan}

LOVE these girls!! We had so much fun running around in the grass!! And they are both total HAMS!!!!

{Abby & Kevin} ...the preview

Soooo... instead of a whole new post... I decided just to update this one with a few more pics so I can give you the whole story! I have sooo many great things to say about this wedding... from her amazing dress (soooo simple and so elegant and pretty all at the same time) to the glorious weather to getting to shoot at Crescent Bend during TULIP season!!!!
So... without further ado... introducing {Abby and Kevin}

A fun wedding party is an absolute MUST. These girls rocked! Notice the uncanny resemblance between Abby and one of the bridesmaids? They are twins... and her sis just got married not even a year ago.

Abby and Kevin were determined not to see each other until the ceremony... but wanted a quick conversation through a door.

LOVE this...

I could not love the last pic in this series any more than i do... Just as they were announced Man and Wife and started the walk back down the aisle... Kevin looked down at the new ring on his finger and grinned SO big. Sooooo sweet.

TULIPS!

Congratulations Abby and Kevin!
Thank you sooooo much for sharing it with me. ;) Jennie

{Nicole & Michael}

LOVE how much fun these guys were!! Funky Monkeys!!! Nicole and Michael are getting married in early November and Nicole has a Rockin' wedding blog... with tons of great inspirational pics/stories from both her experiences and other brides too. She's even looking for great ideas/pics to feature... check it out here: http://theplungeproject.com

I posted this one on FB a few days ago... its my very favorite from the session!!! And the last pic I snapped. There's always time for one more perfect pic!! ;)

{Mandy & Hunt: An engagement story}

Super quick little blog about a super sweet couple I photographed a few weeks ago! They drove all the way in from Washington DC (her parents live just over the mountain in North Carolina) to hang with me for a couple hours.

I can't wait to be part of their wedding this fall!!!

{shane & dirk}

Wedding season is here again... la, la, la!!! Its getting ready to get nuts around here... and I couldn't be any more excited!!! Especially since I have a few HUGE projects in the works... Make sure to check back because I'll be making some exciting announcements soon!!

Okokok... On to the good stuff!!! Shane and Dirk got married at the end of March at the Emporium building downtown on Gay Street (my favorite place to be). They were all up for anything I could throw their way... so we spend a little time hanging out in the old city before the wedding. So much fun!

Kiddos make for the best photojournalism stuff...

Puddles are fun!!

The Emporium has such cool lines inside... Also... Shane and Dirk keep honeybees... so their favors were jars of honey they had bottled themselves.

I adore a reception with lots of toasts and laughter... and this one was FULL of both!! Their families rock!
