#whatwe'rworkingonwednesday

Whoa!  It's Wednesday already!??!?!?  I absolutely cannot believe it is already past the middle of October and wedding season is coming to a close (at least the season of EVERY SATURDAY weddings).  I'm so excited about the off-season.  A time to work on growing this little business of mine, making new friends and spending some time with old ones I've been missing... both within the industry and out. For now, though, we are still on a mad editing schedule and believe me, we are WORKING like crazy... Wednesdays and every other day of the week.  I'm loving these little mid-week posts.  Its become my pace meter.  I always want to have something new and fresh to share, so it pushes me in great ways!

I have two things to share today... a sweet Hunter Valley wedding featuring Nick and Kelsey (on a day with SERIOUSLY perfect lighting and a storm that never came).  Those are the days photographers dream of shooting.  Adds so much drama!  And then, stay tuned for a little shout out to one of my favorite people.

His socks have a CAPE!!!  Seriously?!!   How awesome is that??
Kelsey seriously picked the PERFECT dress.  I was MADLY in love with it.  I'm not sure if you can tell in these photos, but it was lined with a silver grey layer under the lace... absolutely gorgeous.

Proof that a 'first look' doesn't mean you'll be all out of emotion for your trip down the aisle!  So precious!  ;)

I LOVED her cake.  One of her super talented bridesmaids made and decorated it!  I couldn't believe it!  It was GORGEEOUS!!!

Thank you BOTH for sharing your day with me!

As for my shoutout... I wanted to congratulate my favorite designer (Kate of katemoorecreative) She just won an award from the AIGA Tenn show, a statewide, prestigious design awards competition.  She won for this AMAZING wedding invitation suite for Cassie and Bennett (I've blogged part one of their wedding, part two is coming up shortly).  I'm so proud of her... her wedding invites are just soooo much fun and so beautiful!

#whatwe'reworkingonwednesday

Yay!  Another #whatwe'reworkingonwednesday post for your viewing pleasure.  Sometimes, simple is best... and it was absolutely lovely in this sweet wedding I'm just wrapping up the edits on.  Her classic white flowers and vintage lace were perfect for the elegance of Crescent Bend.  So, here you go... Jessica and John... Congrats!

#whatwe'reworkinonwednesday

Welcome to another installment of #whatwe'reworkinonwednesday!  I got to go shoot the elopement of Justin and Belinda yesterday and I just had to come home and edit a couple... cause I LOVE elopements.  Just LOVE them!  And I love a couple who says, just shoot naturally.  We just want you to tell the story.  So excited to share these!

waiting...

the ceremony...

Thanks you two for letting me be there with you! Such a sweet, fun way to spend a Tuesday morning.

{jill & brad} #whatwe'reworkinonwednesday

So, we all know inspiration NEVER strikes on the right day, or at the right time.  Heck, sometimes, not even in the right lifetime.  My idea for #whatwe'reworkinonwednesday just struck... on Thursday.  But, I didn't want to wait a whole week as I have the patience of a 4-month-only monkey, so this week, its #whatwe'reworkinonthursday.  Every week, we are going to give a quick glimpse of the shoot that happens to be on the editing block.  I HATE not having the time to do full, huge blogs of every single wedding (I have SO MANY more from this year I'm dying to get to), but it takes a TON of time to make a wedding blog.  This way, I can at least share a handful of pics from way more weddings and shoots and not stress quite so much about not getting to blog them!  Yay!

So... first up?  Jill and Brad.  The hottest couple of the year!  ...as in 108 in the shade ...but we had a ball anyway at Maple Grove Inn.  Jill and Brad are seriously the most positive folks ever (and pretty cute to boot) and they didn't let the heat bring them down AT ALL!!  Instead it was all Love and Kiddos and Laughter and Cornhole and those Amazing pink shoes.  ;)

cassie & bennett {part uno}

There is honestly no good place to begin with this wedding, its ALL just too good.  I am so darn lucky to have been invited back to the Luce house to shoot their second (and sadly, last) daughter's wedding.  These folks know how to throw a wedding!!  You may remember Sara and Jake's rustic barn wedding that blew me away last fall and this one did NOT fail to disappoint.  Man, these girls have crazy different styles, but as a photographer, it is SO MUCH FUN for me to shoot the weddings of two sisters and try to make each one unique to the couple.  I hope that you take a minute to compare the two, because they are absolutely perfect, each in their own way and because I hope that you can see their personalities shining through.  Ok... on to this wedding!!  This is actually going to take a few posts.  This is the post about the wedding day itself.  Cassie and Bennett decided on a super small (30ish folks) wedding to make it super intimate and laid back.  Then, in August, they threw a big fun party with tons of details, delicious food and a live band.  The blog about that will come in a few weeks, so check back.  So many great pros worked on this wedding, that its just going to be easier to list them!  I hope I don't forget anyone.  ;)

Bridesmaid Dresses: Modcloth

Because every bride needs 3 pairs of shoes...  ;)    Actually, she just wore the yellow ones, but, hey, its good to have options.

What's a good wedding without a few dogs running around??

Two of my favorite shots Allie took...  I love the wide angle in the second.
Good heavens, he's adorable.  Even during a 'boogey check.'  ;)

Cassie's VW van...  Yup.  She is that cool.

So, lets talk about these dresses for a minute.  Cassie ordered like 50 dresses from Modcloth (love already, right?) and specifically picked out each of these dresses for each of their oh, so different personalities and gave it to them as a gift.  Then she had the sashes with the handmade flowers made for each of the dresses and gifted the girls with super sweet lockets complete with messages.  I could not have loved the final result any more.  Just perfect.

I. Love. These. Girls...

One of my favorite daddy/daughter pics of all time... the one on the left where he's got all eyes on Cassie during the prayer.  I almost teared up... which makes using a camera tough.  ;)

Bennett had Samantha (of Mulberries) work this locket with his grandparent's pictures into his boutonniere.  And this is his mom seeing it for the first time.  Precious.

Dinner and the small reception (complete with a bit of dancin') were at Baker Peters.  It was so great to have an intimate, sit-down dinner with their closest friends and family.  I know everyone there felt so special and loved by these two.

Holy yumminess...

Aw.  Family portrait.  After shooting two weddings in this fam, I feel a bit like an honorary member.  ;)

And just imagine!  Their RECEPTION party pics and Cassie's bridal session pics are STILL TO COME!  Check back for the oh, so full of amazing arsty details...  We can't wait to share them.  Until then, check out this super cute video made from all of their hilarious photobooth pics...  Just a little preview to tide you over.

amanda & jonathan

okeyokeyokey!! I know.  I'm a total blog slacker.  but, I feel sure I'm getting ready to make up for it!  This is one big, happy blog.  Amanda and Jonathan's BEAUTIFUL southern wedding.  Starting it off with a TON of pics of Amanda from her bridal shoot a week or so before the wedding.  They got hitched at Church Street United Methodist followed up by a reception at the huge and oh, so lovely farm where Amanda was raised.  Angie Froemel was amazing as the planner and coordinator and Holly's eventful dining rocked the sweet, southern menu.  Many thanks to Kayla Folks for rocking the second shooting on the wedding.  xo

It definitely rained on us all afternoon and then just as we thought outside pics were totally out of the question, the sun popped right out.  The fog was so perfect!

And... on to the wedding day.

This cracks me up... packing for the honeymoon...

Amanda's BFF.  Her pup named Peepers.

Goodness, I adore this church.

These next few are probably my favorite moment all day.  The two moms immediately after the ceremony.  Hugging it out.  ;)

Who has heard of this southern tradition??  not me!  Bury a bottle of Jack exactly a month before the wedding.  Dig it up and enjoy it on the big day!!  Its supposed to bring beautiful weather.  It worked for them!  And if it does rain, you won't care, cause you'll be nice and happy from the bourbon.

Could this be any cuter?  um, no...

cuh-razy folks tied their ties together to make a limbo stick.  awesome!

cassie & bennett

Myohmyohmy!!!  Round the studio, none of us can decide who we have a bigger crush on... the uber-adorable (um... we especially LOVE his glasses, and any boy who can rock a vest and a tie like that is A-ok with us) Bennett or the super stylish (as in, straight out of an Anthropologie catalog) and equally as sweet Cassie.  These two are a perfect match and shooting this session was SOOO much fun!  You may recognize Cassie from her sis's amazing farm wedding (one of my VERY favorites from last year), and its so much fun for me to shoot two sisters in one year and have to capture two personalities (which are OH SO DIFFERENT).  What a great challenge for a photographer! Anyhow... on to the pics...  You'll see lots more of these guys over the next month or so... I still have to share Cassie's bridal, their super sweet {and super intimate} wedding, and their upcoming reception/PARTY in August!

{liz & doug}

Ok.  So, I just love this couple.  I'm not sure what it is about winding up with Chicagoans as clients, but I swear it just happens all the time!  My favorite US city has also produced some of my favorite brides (and grooms too).  I had such a blast hanging out with this uber talented group of ladies who were not only smart and beautiful, but also hilarious and so fun. And, I got to shoot at Bluebird Hill for the first time.  I was in love at first click.  If you haven't checked it out, do yourself a favor and DO IT!!  Its just lovely.  And Liz is just too gorgeous for words.  Scroll down... you'll see what I mean.  She missed her calling as a skin model.  All the way through editing, we couldn't stop 'hating' her for it.  But seriously, Liz.  We're gonna need your skincare routine.  ;)

Enough with the talk and on to the action...

This makes me giggle... Justin Timberlake (mmmmmmm...) watching over the  gals.

hahahaha...

omg.  sweetest. moment. ever...

And... the celebration begins...

ok... WARNING... get ready for WAY TOO MANY lovey B&G pics... dangit, they are photogenic.

hehe.  That horse had his tongue out in at least 5 pics.  We could NOT stop laughing at the office.  Can't decide if he's sayin' "me next" or "oooh. gross."

This tree... oh, this tree...

just when you thought the loveydovey stuff was over...

I mean... this boy can DANCE!!!

Yesssssssss!!!!  Thanks Y'all for the FUNFUNFUN day and thanks to Allie {my second shooter on this wedding and also pretty much my left arm} who took all the pics of the guys gettin' ready and lots more other great ones!

logan & amanda

Whoa... folks.  This is one inspired and charming southern wedding.  Amanda and Logan met at {of all places} an outdoorsmen show.  Logan's family had a booth selling deer blinds and Amanda is apparently quite the outdoorswoman.  Their mutual love of hunting and playing in the woods drew them together and their wedding was full of little touches that really represented both of their personalities.  I LOVED this wedding... from the setting at Trillium Springs in Wears Valley (one of EastTennessee's newest venues) to the cotton in her bouquet and boutoneirres (by the oh so Fabulous Samantha of Mulberries) to the southern meal created by Hope from Simply Southern, it was just so perfect.  Mucho love to the Ladies of One Enchanted Evening for pulling it all together!  So, anyhow... on with the photos.  Go grab a mason jar of lemonade, take your laptop to the porch and enjoy this sweet wedding...

PS...  Check out this CHURCH that Logan built for Amanda!!  INSANE!!

Some of my favorite musician friends The Bearded played some good, old-time bluegrass for them...
CONGRATS you two!!!!  I hope many years of happiness are to come!!!

Welcome to the colorful, fun and vibrant wedding of Jess and Ryan... Married back on April 21, at a super cool venue on the river, they seriously had the PERFECT day... including the amazing weather (which made for perfect pics).

I think I'm just gonna sit back and let you enjoy this one...

Jessie & Craig {got hitched}

In honor of the blazin' hot weather... I thought I'd take this opportunity to cool down a bit with a couple of sweet winter weddings.  In all honesty, I waited and waited this "winter" for a chance to blog them while it was still cool outside, but it the crazy weather just jumped straight into spring in oh, February.  So... anyhow, Meet Jessie and Craig.  I think this was the only cold day we had all season long... but everything about their wedding was perfect... from her INSANELY beautiful dress to the flowers by the fabulous Sam Franklin.  And I love, love, love Maple Grove as always.

{my nana rides camels}

Ok... so I rarely put personal stuff up on this here blog, cause lets face it... who wants to look at a bunch of my family pictures when you're just trying to plan a wedding??  However, every once in awhile, I have something soooo good, I just have to share it.  My nana turns 85 years young this week and we surprised her with a camel safari ride for her birthday (with all of us decked out in full safari get-up, of course), so of course, I absolutely must share just a couple quick pics of the ridiculousness.

For all of you who wonder where I get my spunk and my slightly nutty personality, these pics should definitely help with that explaination.  I come by it honestly.

Thanks so much to our new friends at Circle G Ranch for a great time!

jessa & jim {headed to the chapel}

I'm pretty darn excited about this post because it involves an old friend.  Jessa and I went to high school together back in the "day."  I was stoked to get to shoot their engagement party at the Sunsphere and they wanted a few quintessential Knoxville photos since they met here, but neither live here anymore.

nancy & matt {hitched}

i LOVE this gal.  A few of you reading this probably know her too.  She's my colleague and (more importantly) friend Nancy from Hunter Valley and I was so honored when she asked me to shoot her wedding last fall.

They had a way cool wedding that was both laid back (only about 15 guests at the actual ceremony) and a BLAST (family and friends showed up for the rockin' afterparty!!

The day started off with a tea for all of the ladies in the group...

So, not only did I have an amazing time shooting this wedding, but so did Kayla.  Her dream in life came true when I said... Ok... you have all the time you want to just walk around and get some great property/detail shots.  She came back with these beauties (including the stunning pics of the horses).

Nancy's design company Swank did all of the design... including these rad tables as well as her bouquet...

sarah & stephen {sneak peek}

This is just a super-duper quick little blog to share a few pics from my oh-so AMAZING New Year's Eve wedding!!  Holy-moly, i can not explain how much fun this wedding was.  I'll make sure you guys get a FULL big ole blog story after all the pics are done, but until then... enjoy this little teaser...

Wishin' on bones...

I cannot explain in words how lucky I feel to have gotten to shoot this wedding.  Hold on to your seats and grab a big ole cup o' joe, because I think this is the longest blog post I've ever done!  How do you narrow it down when everywhere you aim your camera is another amazing detail - puppies, horses, a gorgeous farm, crazy-beautiful flowers- another funny incident or another super sweet moment??  Well, you just don't.  I simply love this family so much and Sara and Jake are two of the most gracious people I've ever worked with.  They deserved the perfect day, and I have to say, it was pretty darn close to that!  So sit back, relax and enjoy the story of Sara and Jake...

I'm starting out with some pics from the rehearsal dinner... notice the finery they are sporting!  Jake and Sara asked folks to wear something they'd NEVER consider wearing to a wedding.  There was everything from PJs to Prom dresses...  And their sweet families toasted them until the whole room was just one big blubbery mess.  LOVE.

These next are a mix of the rehearsal and the morning of the wedding.  Notice the wishbone flag... more about that later...

oh, Lordy.  Those of you who really know me know I CANNOT resist doggies... much less puppies.  Sara's sis had just gotten this sweet baby and he showed up in {probably WAY TOO MANY} of the wedding pics...

 There is just something about being able to get ready at home.  Sara and her sis getting ready in their own bathroom with family wedding pics just outside the door.  Gotta love that.

Ok... gonna jump back a little here... these next few are from a bridal session we did at the farm a few weeks before the wedding...

And back to wedding day.  The boutonniere (and rest of the flowers) are by Samantha at Mulberries.  Girlfriend ROCKED it!!!!   Sara wanted cotton, so Hope (from Simply Southern Catering) brought her bags of it back from some family in Georgia (or was it Alabama - sorry if I messed that up Hope).

 Sweet, sweet, sweet first look.  Holy moly, the way Jake looks at her is enough to send anyone into heart palpitations.

ok... so, I think it may be time to share the story of the wishbone.  Back years and years ago, when Sara and Jake were not even really old enough to think about things like serious dating, they had a bit of a crush on one another.  Working at a camp, they were on the dishline together (how romantic, right?!?) and a wishbone showed up on a plate.  They each grabbed a side (see photo below for the reenactment) and Jake ended up with the bigger side.  It wasn't until years later that Jake got his wish of a date with Sara.  Little did he know, Sara had wished for the same.

The reenactment was true to the original outcome...  hehehe.

Oh, my.  gotta love a bride who doesn't take herself too seriously.  ;)

Seriously, are these not the coolest flowers ever?  OMG.  I died a little.

Ok... so,  the ceremony.  I'm gonna put my photographer's high-hat for just a second...  I LOVE a ceremony where I have the ability to move around...  With the barn behind them, I could hide in the shadows while getting really unique shots and the ability to move around on both sides let me get soooo many great shots!! It doesn't hurt that they were so precious and full of love and emotion and even some laughter.

Samantha did all of these too...  gah.  Amazing.  And the ladies at Enchanted Details worked soooo hard to make it all come together.

I've never seen a cooler cake (or cakes). By sugarbuzz Bakers.

The food (Simply Southern catering) was delicious!!!  She made homemade pies with fresh peaches...  insanely delicious!  I'm pestering Hope to make me one!!!

Some of my favorite reception shots...  they had a Square Dance caller!  What a great idea for getting everyone involved.  Loved it.

And....  the "get-a-way..." which consisted of being pushed down the hill by the crowd when the car wouldn't start in the uber-cold weather.  Gah, what a send off!!  it was perfect!

Sara and Jake (and your families)  thank you, thank you, thank you for having me...  its weddings like yours that helps me keep huge amounts of passion for my job season after season. xoxo  -j

thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!

I am seriously the luckiest, most blessed girl in the WORLD!  I am so grateful that I get to do this job everyday and the best part of it are all of you... the uber nifty folks I get to meet (and to know) along the way.  Tomorrow is Thanksgiving (WOW... it came soooo fast this year), which means wedding season is *slowly* coming to an end. As a thank you for the great year I've had, I am offering 25% OFF on all prints purchased through the online galleries (see below for the code - just enter it at checkout)... the sale starts NOW and ends Sunday at Midnight, so get on over there and buy some Christmas Presents (or just a little present for yourself).  I hope every one has a very Happy Thanksgiving full of Love, Laughter, Family, with LOTS and LOTS of food and relaxin'.

{Anna & Garrett Sneak Peek}

I promised Anna and Garrett and little sneak peek before I left town on Wednesday, but just like EVERY other time I go out of town, I didn't manage to quite finish up everything.  So, here I am from the great state of New York... I brought a harddrive with me just so I could upload a few of my favorite pics for them!  I'm going to expand this post to the full wedding blog in the next week or so, but until then, here are just a couple of my favorites. {Don't worry Anna, no crying pics yet... those'll come with the next round - hehe}

{erin & brad}

Soooo, I'm trying something new here with this blog post!  Ya know how I've been a HUGE slacker this summer when it comes to blogging?  Its mostly cause I'm a BUSY girl and blogging takes, well, darn near forever!!  However...  I am hoping that I have come up with a much easier, less time consuming way to give you a great wedding story.  Instead of storyboarding then uploading a picture at a time, I used photoshop to make one huge long storyboard, then I only have to upload ONE thing!!  OMG.  Why did I not think of this sooner!  The only big downfall is that I'm not going to be able to give my commentary in between pics... so I'll have to just tell the story at the beginning and let you guys sort it all out yourselves.  I think perhaps this is gonna be harder for me than it is for you.  Oh, how I love giving commentary.  ;) Hopefully, if you have the time you can let me know how this works and if you like having it all in one big story...

So... meet Erin and Brad.  You might recogize them if you've been to the website lately... they are one of the couples on the homepage slideshow.  They hired me last year JUST for an engagement session.  Lucky for me, we hit it off and they called me back and invited me to shoot their wedding too!!  I honestly think I jumped up and down when we were able to nail it down, because not only are they like, the nicest people ever, they are also BEAUTIFUL and have amazing style and taste (Erin is actually the one who got me hooked on pinterest)!! I knew their wedding would be nothing short of amazing, and I was soooo right.  Plus they had the help of a fabulous planner, Meris Gantt with The Whole Shebang.

Among my favorite things for you to look for in the pics:  The invites! Brad is an uber-talented graphic designer, so he did these himself with their silhouettes.

The BEST candy table EVER!!  I LOVE how they did 'Erin's Favorite' and 'Brad's Favorite' cookies.

The DOGGIE!!!!

Their crazy-big wedding party!!  OMG!  15 groomsmen and 10 bridesmaids!  Luckily, they were seriously the most LAID-BACK folks in the world, so they were awesome to work with! And I totally loved the guy's hats and suspenders!!

I also loved the venue!  Girls in the Tri-cities area looking for a fabulous place for a wedding... the Allendale in Kingsport is not only super lovely, but also super affordable!  I almost passed out when they told me what they rented it for!

Anywho... on to the pics!

Thanks SOOO much Erin and Brad!  I loved being a part of it!!  ;)
